The Tottenham Journal led with this headline, "Butcher killed with own knife," in the 6 October edition. Local crimes, primarily a series of stabbings, captured media attention during the last few weeks, while riot recovery efforts didn't get much press.
Page three of the Journal included a short article about Tottenham business owner Bulent's Huseyin's sympathy for the rioters. His sporting goods shop was looted on Aug. 6.
Today he told me the area’s habitual violence and the riots shared common origins in the lack of opportunity for Tottenham’s young people.
