Mongolian President Ts. Elbegdorj will head to Britain in two weeks to discuss "cooperation between the two countries" (read: mining investment) with Prime Minister David Cameron, according to a Mongolian contact.

The London visit appears not to have made English-language news yet, but is fairly common knowledge among Britain's Mongolian population, he said. (The Mongolian Embassy in London places its UK community between 6,000-7,000 strong).

Though sparsely populated, the Central Asian deomcracy houses some of the world's largest mineral deposits. Mongolian organizations reported in June--and my source confirmed--that British-based Standard Chartered Bank acts as a financial adviser to state-owned Erdenes MGL co.'s massive Tavan Tolgoi coal mining operation.
